What a QuickBooks cleanup actually fixes.
Most QuickBooks files are not broken so much as unfinished. The feed keeps running, nobody reconciles, and a year later the balance sheet has numbers on it nobody can explain. A cleanup makes it explainable again.
A qualified accountant is accountable. The finance team you don't hire.
A cleanup reconciles every bank and credit-card account to statement, clears undeposited funds and duplicate feed entries, categorises what was left uncategorised, resolves opening-balance equity, and leaves a balance sheet you can defend line by line. At Par works inside your QuickBooks — the file stays yours, and every correction is traceable.
The things that actually go wrong.
What goes wrong in a QuickBooks file?
The same handful of things, in almost every file.
Undeposited funds accumulating because payments were recorded but never matched to a deposit. Duplicate transactions from a bank feed connected twice. A large uncategorised bucket that was never revisited. Opening-balance equity still carrying a figure long after setup. Accounts receivable and payable showing balances that no longer exist. Personal spending sitting in a business account with no owner-draw treatment.
How do you fix it without breaking my file?
Read first, propose, then correct — and never silently.
At Par reads the file and reports what it finds before changing anything. Corrections are made as corrections, not as quiet edits: two independent checks must agree before anything is recorded, every entry carries its evidence, and the trail is append-only, so you can see what changed and why. You keep the file and the access throughout.
Why does this matter before January?
Because 1099s are only as good as your vendor records.
Form 1099-NEC for the 2026 year is due to recipients and to the IRS on Monday 1 February 2027, with no separate, later electronic date. Getting that right depends on clean vendor records and W-9s on file — which is precisely what a cleanup produces. If you file ten or more information returns in aggregate, electronic filing is mandatory.

One document in. Recorded, with its evidence.
Read, checked twice, recorded.
It balances · evidence attached · append-only. At Par records it — you still authorize the payment.
Priced against the hire, not the software.
A full-charge bookkeeper in the US typically runs $70,000–85,000 a year, all in. At Par is a fraction of that — the accountant and the accounting system in one, a qualified accountant accountable.

Do you move my books off QuickBooks? +
Only if you want to. At Par can operate inside your existing QuickBooks file, or run your books on its own system and leave QuickBooks as the place you look. The file and the records stay yours either way.
Will I be able to see what you changed? +
Yes. Corrections are recorded as corrections on an append-only trail, with evidence attached, so every change has a reason and a document behind it. Nothing is overwritten silently.
Do you do audit? +
No. At Par keeps your books closed, reconciled and audit-ready, and does not provide audit or assurance services. A qualified accountant is accountable for the work.
Does At Par file my taxes or move my money? +
No to both. At Par prepares your return and the reconciled books behind it, and hands you a filing-ready package. You — or your CPA — file. At Par is not a licensed public accounting (CPA) firm and never moves your money.
What does it cost? +
Books start from $349 a month and Books plus Tax is $649 a month, with custom scopes for groups and multi-entity work. You are priced against the hire, not the software, and can start with a 30-day paid pilot.
